Mastercam Copilot in Mastercam 2026.R2: Faster Commands, Smarter Automation and Hands-Free Programming

Mastercam has announced major upgrades to Mastercam Copilot as part of the Mastercam 2026.R2 release. The latest improvements focus on streamlining CAM programming workflows through enhanced AI assistance, voice interaction, and automated setup functionality.

One of the key enhancements in this release is instant parameter editing. Users can now modify feed rates and spindle speeds using simple text or voice commands without navigating through multiple menus. These changes can be applied to individual operations or across multiple toolpaths simultaneously. The system also provides confirmation options and allows users to revert adjustments when necessary, ensuring greater control and flexibility.

Another important advancement is automated setup generation using natural language instructions. Programmers can create machine groups and populate them with operations by issuing a single command. Copilot interprets the intent behind the request and automatically configures the setup, supporting a wide range of toolpaths. This feature is designed to reduce repetitive manual steps and accelerate project preparation.

Mastercam 2026.R2 also introduces an Active Listening Mode, enabling hands-free interaction. By using a designated wake phrase, users can activate Copilot and issue commands without touching a keyboard or mouse. This functionality is particularly valuable in shop environments where maintaining focus on the machine or workpiece is critical.

In addition, Copilot now includes the ability to scan training and tutorial videos hosted within the Mastercam ecosystem. Users can request specific information from a video, and the system identifies relevant details along with timestamps, eliminating the need to manually search through lengthy content.

These updates position Mastercam Copilot as a more capable programming assistant rather than simply a support tool. By combining faster command execution, intelligent automation, and voice-enabled control, Mastercam 2026.R2 aims to enhance productivity and simplify complex CAM workflows for manufacturers.
