This year, I had the chance to visit India again — specifically, Bangalore, or Bengaluru where IMTEX 2025 took place. It’s been two months since I got back, but I enjoyed the exhibition so much that I’d love to return — and share a bit about it with you. Today’s episode features Hans-Joachim Schott, director of the German company SCHOTT SYSTEME and one of the two founders of the CAD/CAM system Pictures by PC, a software with a rather unusual name for this industry. Interestingly, Pictures by PC might be the only CAM system in the world that doesn’t charge users for updates.

AI is making its way into industrial manufacturing, unlocking massive potential for CNC machining. One of the first movers in this space was CloudNC, which introduced CAM Assist—a tool integrated with Autodesk Fusion 360 that automates toolpath generation, making it faster and easier to get machine-ready code.

IMTS was full of surprises, and one of the most unexpected for me was discovering Toolpath. To get a better understanding of what Toolpath is working on, I sat down with Justin Gray, CTO of the company.
